Monika Zeinar, a painter who has long been engaged in painting Meissen porcelain, similarly has a significant influence on the modern presentation of Meissen floral painting. However, her inspiration does not come from Meissen's extensive archives, but from nature, often her own garden. Through meticulous brushstrokes, she successfully arranges the flowers so naturally and vividly that one can almost smell their fragrance. Delicate flowers, buds, and leaves look incredibly lifelike, while the rich palette of light, shadow, and layers brings about a captivating effect.

In 2010, when designing a tableware set adorned with roses and camellias, Meissen's chief colorist, Monica, discovered that camellias were just as colorful as rose decorations. Inspired by this, she visited some well-known camellia exhibitions and personally cultivated camellias to find inspiration for her painting. The passion Monica has for camellias is deeply felt in the painting of the "Spring of Camellias" coffee set, where she infuses classical design with a delightful and fresh new arrangement for the camellias. This gorgeously decorated tableware set has created a unique pattern for Meissen.

This coffee set features a unique design with clean and crisp lines, created by Johann Daniel Schön in 1815. In the early nineteenth century, coffee sets were essential elements of artistic decoration for aristocratic festive banquets. Interestingly, porcelain originated from Asia, where camellias were not depicted. After the introduction of camellias to Europe, horticulturists began cultivating this plant. Since the nineteenth century, camellias have become renowned flowers worldwide, coveted by elegant nobility due to their high prices. They were either used as decorations on banquet tables or worn as accessories by ladies during evening banquets.

Therefore, as you leisurely enjoy the rich and fragrant coffee, you can also gently take away the beautiful camellias. This is the work of Monika Zeinar. Flowers have deeply captivated people since ancient times. In many cultures, they symbolize the vitality of the earth and the arrival of spring, ushering in new life. However, plants are ephemeral; they wither, and their natural beauty is fleeting. Consequently, people have long sought ways to preserve them. They are pressed, dried—or painted on paper and porcelain to be preserved permanently.
